In 1970 Leyland Australia launched it’s challenge to Holden and Ford in the six-cylinder family car market with their locally made KIMBERLEY. Fitted with front power disc brakes and four-wheel independent suspension it offered big interior space largely provided by mounting the engine transverse thus saving leg space…

Initially, it sold well but over time some shortcomings appeared and annual volume fell to 10,000 units. An upgraded version was launched two years later and this model continued until Leyland launched it’s a real challenger to the market leaders with the P76.
