Ford FGX XR8 – Vanish (Blue)
A real performer with a beefy supercharged V8 donk. Ford owners liked to look good in their choice of wheels and this did the job while leaving most traffic clearly behind.
Considered by many to be the best Falcon, the Ford FGX XR8 produced in 2014 was the final iteration of the iconic XR8 name, which had been absent from the Ford Australia Range since 2010.
The term FGX was derived from Ford Australia’s internal codename project 201X. It was chosen from feedback from enthusiasts paying homage to the X used in Ford’s popular models of the past.
The car was based upon the FPV GT R Spec drivetrain, which included the high powered supercharged 5 litre V8 that produced 335kw (450hp). The XR8’s performance was just as brutal as the Gt’s, but without the GT stripes and large wing the car was more understated in its looks…
The Production of the Ford FGX XR8 ended when Ford production ceased in Broadmeadows, Victoria on October 7th 2016. This new model did not last long in showrooms as enthusiasts wanted to get their hands on this stylish new muscle car.
Unfortunately, there will be no more affordable high performance, rear wheel drive sedans produced for Australia’s popular market.
